Born in Madrid and raised in Buenos Aires until the age of ten, Anahi Hollis was influenced by her surroundings and became interested in ceramics, design and architecture at an early age. She began learning ceramics at the age of 9 and continued taking classes through college, where her instructor called her “an artist that worked with clay” and suggested she focus on designing products. This later lead to her interest in furniture design and space planning and her decision to begin studying interior design at Wayne State University.

During her last year at Wayne State, Anahi joined Los Pistoleros design team for an eight month internship. The team that was headed by Phillip Cooley and architect Brian Hurttienne, worked on various projects including Slows Barbeque outdoor patio and an art installation at Vinology in Ann Arbor. Towards the end of her internship Anahi began working for Susan Heifleigh at Environments and Energy. Here she assisted in the design process during several high end residential and commercial projects including the Yoga Shelter in Birmingham. Anahi has also worked for Cheryl Nestro at Tutto Interiors, Maha Jano Interiors in the Michigan Design Center and later Jennifer Taylor at Jennifer Taylor Studio in Royal Oak.

Working on several residential and commercial projects with Jennifer, her responsibilities included drafting floor plans, lighting plans and elevations, tile layouts, custom millwork and specification, 3-D models as visual aids, furniture design and selection, and fabric selection. Anahi also assisted Jennifer Taylor with the interior design of Jennifer’s up north dream cabin, which was featured in Detroit Home magazine, fall of 2014. The “dream cabin” was awarded 2nd place in the ‘Sustainable Home’ category of the 2016 Detroit Home Awards.

Now living in Detroit and having studied interior design, her focus is on historic renovation, custom millwork, furniture and environmentally sustainable design. Today, Anahi Hollis is the owner and principal interior designer at Anahi Hollis Design, LLC in Detroit.
